Out of It was my first attempt at directing a short film, and every frame of it was created with AI. A man starts hearing things he shouldn’t. A barista knows his name before he’s said it. A child says one word that won’t leave him alone.
I’m not a filmmaker by training. I’ve never run a set or worked with actors in the traditional sense. What I had was a story I wanted to tell and, for the first time, tools patient enough to let someone outside the industry actually tell it.
It’s short, it’s strange, and it’s the reason I now think about directing as a skill you can pick up without a film degree.
