PoundBreak
PoundBreak is the second thing that came out of that same dinner conversation with Erin, and this one reaches back further than either of us expected. I grew up on Wolfenstein 3D, and when I sat down to build a retro shooter, that’s the game my hands remembered even though I’ve never written a line of its code or anyone else’s.
So it’s a first-person corridor shooter built the way those games used to feel, except your weapon is a water pistol and your targets are the robot catchers holding Puptown’s dogs prisoner. Five levels, from a concrete kennel up through a hedge maze and a crystal cavern to a boss fight on a floating theme park.
Free every dog on every floor and you’ve beaten it. Get soaked trying and you’ll be back for another run.
