Sargassum Siege
Anyone who’s spent time on a beach in Puerto Rico the last few years knows what a bad sargassum bloom looks like and smells like. Sargassum Siege turns that real, ongoing problem into an arcade defense game: the worst bloom in memory has hit Palmas del Mar, and it’s up to you to burn back the seaweed before it buries the beach village for good.
Move with WASD, torch the clumps with a flamethrower, keep an eye on your fuel and the village’s integrity meter, and whatever you do, don’t hit the turtles. The tide keeps feeding the bloom faster the longer you wait, so this isn’t a game you can leisurely observe.
It’s silly on the surface and grounded in something real underneath, which is pretty much how I like to build.
