Talk of the Town
Talk of the Town is a rumor mill you set in motion yourself. Give the town your name and something you want to do, then watch it spread, person to person, up through sixteen rungs of a social ladder, warping a little more with every retelling the way a real rumor does.
By the end, the town has its own version of your story, usually not the one you started with. Run it again and you’ll get a different version entirely.
Plenty of people will tell you they heard it through the grapevine. This is what that actually looks like happening.
